Peabody Mail Carrier Robbed At Gunpoint For Postal Box Keys: Police

A gun-wielding thief held a mail carrier at gunpoint and demanded keys to postal boxes, according to officials.

Police arrived at Veterans Memorial Drive on Wednesday, Jan. 4 around 12:30 p.m. in response to a call saying there had been an armed robbery, according to the Peabody Police Department. The mail carrier said he had been approached from behind by a man who was carrying a black gun and successfully made it away with the victim's mail keys.

The thief was described as an African American man in his 20's, standing approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, and having a skinny build. He was wearing a black puffy jacket, a yellow hoodie, and a blue face mask. 

The suspect ran away, with keys in tow, in a grey Honda vehicle.
